A Defeat For Manchester United Against Liverpool Will All But Confirm Manchester City As Champions Of England

Manchester City

After a cagey first half, City finally found a breakthrough in the 57th minute. Mendy, strolling in acres of space, hugged the touchline before releasing a ferocious infield strike. Aguero was just in time to receive the pass, calmly takes a touch and diligently strides into the box down the channel. No defender is tracking him.

A rising half volley into the top left, leaving Guaita dumbfounded. He had no chance. He turned to see the ball tucked into the top right corner, City players cuddling in the touchline corner to celebrate what would be an important goal towards their premier league conquest.

After coming from behind to beat PSG 1-2 in the Champions League, Pep knew he had his work cut out. A visit to Selhurst Park was in the cards, and he didn’t disappoint.

So, on Saturday afternoon, the former Barcelona manager made a sweeping change to the side that stunned PSG on Wednesday. Notably were Phil Foden and Kevin de Bruyne, who were rested.

In their place, he brought in Laporte, Aguero, Sterling and Gabriel Jesus. And I think that proved just how strong their bench was, and the kind of squad depth they had at their disposal.

Sergio Aguero was playing one of his last games for the Cityzens and repaid the faith by opening the scores in the 57th minute with a deft touch into the top corner.

Manchester United play Liverpool later today, and the City manager feels the Premier League title is already in the fridge.

He spoke to BT, and this is what he had to say:

“I am absolutely delighted. After Champion’s League it is always tough. The players that didn’t play in Paris spoke on the green, and did it perfectly. The quality of the players made the difference. In the first half we struggled a little bit but that is normal, in the second half they were perfect. Sergio Aguero, what a goal. I am in love with him as a person, what a guy! What a goal! Of course he is ready. We can start to think about putting the champagne in the fridge. Not yet, but we put it in the fridge. I will check on the game tomorrow. The Premier League is already there. We need one more victory. Then we will give absolutely everything to reach the final.”

Manchester United Host Liverpool On Sunday In What Could Be A ‘Title Decider’

Liverpool has had an awful season and would want to put everything behind them and focus on what lies ahead. The Reds lie in position six, 13 points behind second-placed United, and a massive 26 points behind runaway league leaders Manchester City.

The Red Devils have had a devastating away record, scoring at will and winning games everybody thought they would lose. At home, they’ve had a lackluster performance, giving away goals and points so easily.

A loss to their sworn rivals will hand their derby rivals the title. And I don’t think there would be a more exciting match for Liverpool this season than this.

For Manchester City, it’s not a matter of if, but when. Whether United wins or not, they will still lift this season’s premier league title.  And, they deserve every bit of it!
