Top Games To Watch Out For As The Premier League Enters Week Two

The new premier league season finally kicked off despite several changes affected due to the corona pandemic. And just on day one, we got a glimpse of how the changes made in the off-season have transformed many teams. It was a weekend of few surprises though, with entrants into the league falling short of the hype. Save for Leeds United which stretched champions Liverpool to the limit, other promoted outfits were entirely uninspiring, falling sooner than they could mount a challenge. Heading into the second week of the season, there will be all 20 teams in action, with Manchester clubs and Aston Villa joining the party after missing out on day one.

The second week promises some fireworks, with a few top matches on the cards. Here are some of the highly anticipated games to look out for in week two.

Arsenal vs West Ham, Sunday

West Ham started off to a disappointing 2-0 loss to Newcastle on Saturday evening. Already, there is growing discontent among fans as the Hammers look set for another relegation fight this season. And having spent the better part of last season flirting with relegation, David Moyes knows he has his work cut out.

The pressure is already mounting with a demanding schedule early on. If they don’t pick themselves first, and find a footing, West Ham could dig themselves deep into the hole of relegation. And we know pretty well where that could end.

Nonetheless, the Sunday game is an excellent place to begin their turnaround. It is a London Derby without much hype and excitement. However, it remains one of those traditional derbies that could go either way.

The Gunners, on the other side, will be looking to follow up on their reliable performance with another good show. They have only lost once against West Ham in their last ten meetings.

On paper, Arsenal looks to have everything to contain the hammers. However, being a derby, and a redemption game for West Ham, anything could happen.

Chelsea vs Liverpool, Monday

The champions had to scratch below the surface to see off a resolute Leeds United on an opening day. And while Chelsea won comfortably against Brighton, the two teams seem to be having all the Arsenal ready for a premier ague title battle.

Chelsea has been the busier side in the transfer window, bringing in top talents from Germany and Dutch league. They certainly have bigger plans to spoil Liverpool party, with the arrival of Willian and Timo Werner sparking a ray of hope among the Stamford Bridge faithful.

A win for Lampard may lay a foundation of more incredible things to come this season. Liverpool is still the same side that swept aside teams last season. We expect an explosive encounter, with a more tactically aware side having the upper hand.

Wolves vs Manchester City, Tuesday

Wolves have been that fearless team that takes on any opponent no matter their stature. It is a team that plays with the urgency and power needed to win a championship.

The two teams faced off last season, providing us with action-packed matches. And there was never short of drama in each of the two games.

This Tuesday, two teams that play a free-flowing game, with numerous attacks come against each other. Other than the goal-fest, we should expect to see a physical contest among a few players from both ends.

City will be looking to start their season with a bang. However, having lost twice to the same team last season, we wouldn’t be surprised if the results turn out otherwise.
