Serie A Roundup: Milan Shock Juventus With A Stunning Comeback As Lazio Suffer A shock Defeat To Lecce

It was Juventus who broke the deadlock first, Adrien Rabiot curling in a ferocious strike into the right top corner of the Milan goal. Cristiano Ronaldo then doubled the Old Lady’s lead six minutes later, sparking a ray of optimism and excitement among the Juventus faithful.

However, a spirited fight from the Rossoneri denied Juventus the chance to stretch their lead at the top to ten points. Earlier, second placed Lazio had suffered a shock defeat to lowly ranked Lecce to dent their title chase credentials.

A loss to the relegation threatened Lecce meant Juventus had a chance to extend their lead at the top with ten points. However, AC Milan turned around things after falling 0-2 behind to complete a stunning comeback.

Is Juventus strolling to a successive 9th Successive Scudetto?

It was AC Milan that last won the Serie A title before Juventus dominance began, winning 8 titles in a row. With a comfortable 7 points lead at the top, the Old Lady looks like they will be strolling to yet another Scudetto, their 9th in 10 years.

On a night they had a chance to extend their lead at the top, Juventus succumbed to an enterprising Milan side, losing 4-2 to keep the title race wide open.

Lazio’s loss to Lecce meant Juventus would go 11 points clear. Nonetheless, it is the Milan side that reaped big, snatching away a massive three points that boosts their Europa League qualification.

The loss to Milan was shocking, considering the fact that Juventus has had a resolute defense. However, it also showed that a defense that looks unbreakable can come tumbling down in a matter of minutes.

And even as they regroup to cement their lead at the top, the porous defense will be a cause to worry as they prepare to take on Lyon in the Champions League round of 16.

Lazio’s title hopes up in flames

Second place Lazio had an evening to forget after going down to relegation threatened Lecce. Despite the visitors going up in the fifth minute through Felipe Caicedo, it was the hosts who would grab all the three points after the final whistle.

Khouma Babacar netted in the equalizer after 30 minutes of play, heading in a Filippo Falco’s cross. The struggling side completed their turnaround in the second half, with Fabio Luciomi heading in from a corner.

Inzagi’s charges remain in second place though, and seven points adrift leaders Juventus.

The win saw Lecce climb up the ladder, moving out of the relegation zone.

Inter Milan giving up on the title chase

Inter Milan was blowing away teams before the Lockdown, sending early signals of snatching the title from Juventus.

The Antonio Conte’s charges looked like they’d finally found their winning mojo, and for the first time in years, Juventus was facing a serious challenge in the fight for the Serie A title.

However, with 7 matches remaining to the end of the league, Inter are a pale shadow of the team they were in the opening stages of the league.

A loss to Bologna all but ended their title hopes, their only redemption a Champions League spot.
